Solr
Solr is an open source enterprise search server based on the Lucene Java search library with XML/HTTP and JSON APIs. Documents are indexed by sending them formatted in XML via HTTP to a Solr instance. Queries are sent as HTTP GET request to the server and returned to the client as XML/JSON results.
The main features are:
- Advanced full-text search capabilities
- Optimised for high-volume Web traffic
- Standards-based open interfaces – XML and HTTP
- Comprehensive HTML administration interfaces
- Server statistics exposed over JMX for monitoring
- Scalability – efficient replication to other Solr search servers
- Flexible and adaptable through XML configuration
- Extensible plug-in architecture
- Solr uses the Lucene Search Library and extends it
For more information about Solr, please see the Solr wiki.
The Solr version you find here uses a specifically defined index as well as a special XML output for requests generated via Carrot4MAREC.
How to make your own project visible on the IRF Prototype Portal
All IRF members are invited to present their demos and prototypes (even if early-stage) on the IRF Prototype Portal. This is an excellent opportunity to collect feedback from end-users and increase the visibility of your project. Please contact membership@ir-facility.org for more information.
